  1. Crystal DownLoad On Line User's Manual

  3. I. What is Crystal DownLoad ?
  4.  
  5. Crystal DownLoad (CDL), is a Netscape Nevigator* Add-on software,
  6. it needs Netscape Navigator 1.1 or higher to function properly. The
  7. best thing CDL can do is to download a batch of text files, pictures,
  8. software library from the World Wide Webs, while you are visiting
  9. some other Web Sites, or even you are not there. It could save
  10. you hours of download time everyday. A great news for busy Web surfers
  11. and picture collectors.

  13. II. How to get started.
  14.  
  15. The best way to use CDL is while you are using Netscape Navigator.
  16. Whenever you enter a site you feel like downloading, for example,
  17. a site has links to pictures, move clips, or software, you can copy
  18. the URL from Netscape, and paste into CDL's URL box. Once you
  19. have copied the URL, you then can click the "Down Load" Button
  20. to start the batch download process. you can change the default
  21. settings in the batch load window. But if you just hit "Start",
  22. Crstal Download will just download for you, to the place you
  23. choose.

  25. III. Crystal DownLoad Functions.

  27. The files you can download are:
  28.     Pictures/Images: JPEG, GIF formats.
  29.     Sounds:    WAV format
  30.     Movies: AVI, MOV and MPG formats.
  31.     Software Library: EXE and ZIP formats.
  32.     Text: HTML files.
  33.  
  34. Download Options:
  35.     
  36.     1. Level of depth: Web pages are linked by pointers. CDL allows
  37.     you to choose the number of levels from the original URL to
  38.     download. Bigger number will be able to download more files, but
  39.     will take longer time. The default number is one.
  40.     If you choose one level, CDL will only download the files
  41.     pointed by the original page you pointed to. Select 2 will
  42.     download not only the files your URL points to, but also the
  43.     files pointed by the html files pointed by the original URL.
  44.     In general, select n will download all the files level n-1
  45.     files point to, in addition to the files downloaded by
  46.     selecting n-1.

  48.     2. Download source: You can either download files pointed by
  49.     the URL's in your Netscape Navigotor Bookmark, or you can
  50.     download files from the URL you typed/selected.

  52.     3. Include IMG SRC: some pictures you see on the browser
  53.     are not downloadable by simply clicking on them. You can
  54.     download these pictures by check this option.

  56.     4. Download destination: You can choose any subdirectory to
  57.     store the downloaded files. If the directory does not exist,
  58.     CDL will create for you.

  60.     5. File types to download: Click on the file types you'd like
  61.     to download. The default are GIF and JPG files.
